about

This album represents change; the changes that occur within ones existence, the change in the emotions that one feels toward others as well as themselves, the change in ones views and ideology on society, life, and death, the change that is caused by external forces, and the change in this albums sound... This period of my life has been the darkest that I have ever experienced and this album is a physical manifestation of the changes, hardship. and turbulence I have witnessed and endured within the last few years as well as it's effects.

We can either embrace and/or adapt to these changes or we can falter. I don't know which yet.....

"The young American is back in the early spring with "Stendhal: Tragedy of the Journeyman", an album of a different kind, where the electric tablecloths replace the acoustic flights, where the darkness engulfs the light of the beginnings . A long hypnotic and bewitching journey to discover.

Five tracks and over an hour and twenty minutes of music, that's what Jonathan Fraser offers in this new album. Listeners in a hurry, used to radio formats, go your way. From her 12-minute opening piece, to her 27-minute epic instrumental ending, the record is patiently savored.

The young musician explains that this album is that of change. "The changes that are taking place in everyone's lives, the changes in the emotions we feel towards others as well as ourselves, the changes in opinions and ideologies about society, life and death ... " He says that the period of his composition was the darkest he had ever known. As a result, this change in the sound of his music. A manifestation of all the turbulence endured in recent years, and the effects they have had on him.

Here, the sound layers stretch over time, as if to help cross the tests. The lightness of the acoustic guitar has given way to the fog of a saturated bass and guitar. Plates of synthetic keyboards and hypnotic percussions join to form an atmosphere of intense melancholy. The voices, be it that of Jeremy Schultz in the first piece, or samples of cinematographic dialogues in the following pieces, rise as an additional instrument, melted into the convolutions of this long sound journey. Fondues like the colors of his beautiful cover, signed Aitor Renteria. From the boat and the silhouette that stand out there, in the heart of a tormented stormy sky. Depending on rhythmic and melodic variations, stories are read. They are made of fears and pains. Regrets too. But, beyond the sadness, they transport to an elsewhere charged with hope, like the luminous breakthrough on which the shadow of the traveler is drawn. A spell to succumb to." - Totoromoon
